Ray of Hope is a registered Christian Charity and our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ with those who are disadvantaged, marginalized or troubled. We are are currently hiring a part time Community Services Supervisor to support our Community Centre program.

The Community Services Supervisor is responsible for leading, monitoring, and supervising the overall operations of the Community Centre during times it is open to the public. They will provide leadership in spiritual care and support through practically sharing the Christian Faith and facilitating programming while working in a multi-faith environment. They will contribute to creating an enjoyable experience and safe environment for our guests and volunteers through ensuring the Community Centre is ready for meal preparation, volunteer meal groups, applicable programming as well as through supporting, de-escalating and intervening in situations as necessary. They will provide orientation to meal groups and volunteers in the required areas of responsibility. They will manage and support assigned areas including meal preparation, Marketplace appointments, clothing needs, laundry and shower requests and any other area of programming. They will work cooperatively, follow the direction of and support the Lead Shift Supervisor in the responsibilities and will be expected to take on Lead Shift Supervisor responsibilities as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in managing or supervising volunteers or employees as well as working with individuals who are marginalized, disadvantaged, or homeless. Previous experience or knowledge of addictions and mental health is required.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in progress or completed in Social Work or related field of study from a recognized College or University as well as demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Successful candidates as a condition of employment will be required to submit a suitable Police Records Check including a screening for working with the vulnerable sector as well as a medical clearance form.
  • This position requires the successful candidate to provide leadership, direction and implement Christian values in a multi-faith environment. The successful candidate is required to sign off agreeing to our Statement of Faith and Morality Statement.

General Expectations

  • This position will require the incumbent to be standing the majority of the time.
  • The Shift Supervisor will be working directly with individuals who are marginalized, disadvantaged or homeless and who may be displaying addictions or mental health challenges, who may also display verbally and physically aggressive behaviours.
  • The successful candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends.
