RAY OF HOPE is currently seeking a PROGRAM MANAGER for our Youth Support Services Program. In this role you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of all treatment services for the Live-In Treatment facility. You will participate in hiring, orientations, ongoing training and performance management with the Program Director. There will be responsibility for budget and spending, and clinical supervision. You will work closely with family and community partners to ensure an exceptional level of participant centered care is provided for our youth.

Overview

This is the management role which oversees the day-to-day delivery of all treatment services for the Live-In treatment program, working closely with the program director to uphold and promote all directives from ROH leadership. The incumbent participates in staff hiring, orientation, on-going training and performance management in close consultation with the program director. The manager oversees all program delivery, including responsibility for managing budgets & spending, and clinical supervision within assigned program area and other areas of YSS as needed. The program manager provides some direct clinical service to participants in the form of counselling/psychotherapy and case management as needed. This role includes providing family and supports with regular updates and feedback pertaining to their youth's treatment and stay in program.

Specific Responsibilities

Administration

  • Manage scheduling, and ensure schedules are appropriate, as well as prepared and distributed in a timely manner
  • Ensure the physical property and vehicles are well maintained, and are clean and safe to use
  • Manage program spending, including the purchasing of food & others supplies, the management of petty cash and management of participants personal needs money
  • Respond to staff and participant requests and crises in a responsible, timely and flexible manner, in consultation with the program director; and ensure the development and implementation of appropriate, person-centred responses occurs
  • Complete administrative and supervisory documentation in a timely & professional manner
  • Maintain good working relationships with other agencies, service providers and volunteers who are part of providing excellent service to participants and their families
  • May be required to prepare and present public education and prevention presentations related to substance use for youth, families and other professionals
  • May be required to represent YSS at public, educational or Ministry meetings
  • Implement related learning and professional development plans as discussed with program director

Clinical

  • Participate in assessing the appropriateness of prospective participants for services, treatment, and provide recommendations to the treatment team and program director
  • Ensure appropriate parent coaching and counseling for each youth in the program occurs, up to and including actively encouraging or participating as necessary
  • Provide clinical supervision, which includes overseeing and coaching of support staff in the development and implementation of program activities and individual interventions relevant to the needs of participants
  • Provide as needed individual treatment to participants (e.g., step work, crisis de-escalation, mediation, trauma)

Professional Development

  • Participate in on-going professional development activities and engage in reciprocal relationships of learning with colleagues to stay current in the field
  • Participate in regular supervision – individually or team formats
  • Implement related learning and professional development plans as discussed with Program Director
  • Maintain continuing education requirements, on own initiative and in conjunction with organizational resources where available

General Program Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the process of assessing the appropriateness of prospective participants with the Case Management Coordinator, and provide recommendations to YAW’s and program director
  • Take the lead in parent coaching and counseling for each youth in the program
  • Participate in the hiring process for all subordinate staff, and provide administrative supervision, including orientation, performance evaluations, and corrective actions in accordance with ROH and YSS policies and procedures
  • Participate in the student placement selection process and provide administrative & clinical supervision to students
  • Create and review appropriate shift related tasks and responsibility lists
  • Co-lead weekly case management/staff meetings
  • Provide clinical supervision, which includes overseeing and coaching of staff in the development and implementation of program activities and individual interventions relevant to the needs of participants
  • Provided limited individual treatment to participants (e.g., step work, crisis de-escalation, mediation)
  • Maintain membership in good standing with the appropriate College of registered health or social work professionals, including supervisory status
  • Ensure professional standards are maintained with respect to documentation, medication management, safe food handling, as well as other occupational health and safety expectations
  • Actively participate in the planning and implementation of staff training activities

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in a field relevant to the practice of psychotherapy (social work, counselling, nursing) with specific training in psychotherapy

OR;

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the practice of psychotherapy (social work, counselling, nursing) with specific training in psychotherapy

Experience

  • Proven leadership abilities at a management level
  • Addiction treatment, both harm reduction & abstinence-based approaches: 5 years
  • Individual, family and group psychotherapy: 5 years
  • Experience providing treatment in a therapeutic community: 5 years
  • Clinical supervision: 3 years, 5 years without a masters’ degree
  • Software Knowledge: Word, Excel, DATIS, PowerPoint

Certifications

  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C +AED
  • Crisis intervention technique training NVCI
  • Safe Food Handling is an asset

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required to be successful in this position

  • Required to make decisions and provide team leadership around issues such as: risk assessment & duty to report; client assessment & treatment planning; occupational health & safety, safe and effective operation of the facility, program, and company
  • Required to communicate decisions to staff, delegate work, and be responsible for ensuring work is done in a timely, competent manner
  • Maintain balanced, boundary relationships with staff, clients, and clients’ family systems, as well as associated service providers, managing confidentiality and disclosures appropriately in all directions
  • Flexibility to work evenings and uphold on-call duties as assigned
  • Considerable risk for vicarious trauma; mild risk for physical and/or emotional abuse by clients.
  • Must have the skill to verbally de-escalate crises and to practice basic self-defence in an unpredictable environment
  • Required to have daily access to a road-worthy vehicle and carry insurance with two million dollars of liability coverage. May be required to transport clients, alone in his/her personal vehicle at times

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check/Police Check
  • Valid, unrestricted Class “G” Driver’s licence
  • Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract
  • Employment Medical Form including immunization record
  • Maintain a membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or another equivalent professional association (as approved by Ray of Hope) that grants you access to the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy
